Schoolgirl rapist gets his sentence cut on appeal

A PUCKLECHURCH man who was jailed for 10 years for having sex with a schoolgirl had his sentence slashed by appeal judges.

Stevan Hudd, 28, of Lansdown Road, was jailed at Bristol Crown Court for raping and sexually assaulting a child under 13.

Another man, Michael Roberts, who also had sex with the girl – but after she had become a teenager – received a sentence of five years behind bars. In a Court of Appeal hearing Hudd argued that a difference in the victim's age of only a few months did not justify his sentence being double that of Roberts.

His sentence was cut to eight years.
